Lithium tetraborate nanoparticles were synthesized by combustion method. The shape and size of nanoparticles were determined by scanning electron microscopy (SEM). X-ray diffraction pattern (XRD) confirmed the formation of lithium tetraborate nanocrystals. Thermoluminescence (TL) glow curve of the produced nanoparticles following irradiating with gamma radiation demonstrates five overlapping glow peaks at approximately 415, 451, 523, 572 and 635 K. Nanoparticles show a linear dose response in the range of absorbed dose from 5 to 1000 Gy. Fading of the stored TL signal was determined to be 31% per month. Band gap of approximately 5.56 eV was determined for the synthesized nanoparticles by studying the UV absorption pattern.
